About

The United Hebrews of Ocala synagogue was completed in 1888 as a purpose-built Jewish house of worship. It later served Temple B'nai Darom until the congregation left the building in 1976. The structure survived and was adaptively reused rather than demolished. It is no longer a synagogue and today is used by Ocala Bible Chapel for Christian worship and community activity. The building remains part of Ocala's historic fabric and preserves an important physical link to the city's nineteenth-century Jewish community. Historic 1888 Ocala building originally constructed as a synagogue and now used by Ocala Bible Chapel. In Jewish World Records, Former United Hebrews of Ocala Synagogue is connected to the record “Oldest Building in Florida Originally Built as a Synagogue,” based on the stored achievement of Built in 1888.
